Update from Eric (Sunday morning)

It's about 10:30 am here - just got off the phone with the doctor at Homburg who informs us that Coleman is having difficulty with his breathing. They are taking him in for imaging to help determine cause and should know more in approx 2 hours. Belinda and I are headed to the hospital and will update everyone at that time.

We continue to be encouraged and appreciative of all who are praying and posting comments here which are relayed to him on each visit.

Note from Win -- 10:30 in Germany is 3:30 am in Tulsa, OK

  1. Eric and Belinda,
I can assure you that Coleman was on the hearts of so many as they woke this morning. As we all go off to church, I know his name will be spoken in prayer all over the world.
Sometimes we have such a hard time understanding the "whys and how could that happen", but we must take hold and put our trust in God.
I pray that God will bless you with good news today. I pray that God will strengthen your body Coleman.
I pray for your family, for your children that God will send His comforter to their hearts.
Andrew and Karol, I pray for you as you are away from your family,at this difficult time. I know you are there in heart.
We shall all keep praying and trusting in our God of whom nothing is impossible.
God is still performing miracles. We have witnessed several in our church this year. Situations with health issues that no man with all of their knowledge could have performed.
    Keep praying without ceasing.
God bless you today. He is right there with you.
    With love and sincerity, Kim

  2. Dear Eric, Belinda, and Coleman,

I continue to pray for all of you -- including your extended family and friends. My hearts desire is for Coleman to be healed and I pray for his healing and even more that God will be glorified in and through all of this.

In 2 Kings 18 & 19 Judah was attacked by Sennacherib, one of the strongest kings of Assyria (who had just before destroyed the kingdom of Israel). An invasion force of overwhelming strength had assembled against Jerusalem and as 2 Kings reports:

In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them. Then the Rabshakeh said to them, “Don’t listen to Hezekiah when he misleads you, saying: The LORD will deliver us. Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land from the power of the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand? Who among all the gods of the lands has delivered his land from my power? So how is the LORD to deliver Jerusalem?”

Then Hezekiah prayed before the LORD: “LORD God of Israel who is enthroned above the cherubim, You are God––You alone––of all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth. Listen closely, LORD, and hear; open Your eyes, LORD, and see; hear the words that Sennacherib has sent to mock the living God. LORD, it is true that the kings of Assyria have devastated the nations and their lands. They have thrown their gods into the fire, for they were not gods but made by human hands––wood and stone. So they have destroyed them. Now, LORD our God, please save us from his hand so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the LORD God––You alone.”

Father God we ask that through this illness that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone are the Lord God.

  3. Dear Eric and Belinda,
I want you to know how much you all are being lifted up in prayer - for me, I have been praying about as much as I am breathing. Coleman, you all, Emil and the girls are always in my heart and mind. We may not comprehend the ways of God, but we absolutely know who He is...He is Faithful, He is Compassionate (He also watched His Son suffer), He is Merciful, He is Good, and above all, He is Love. I am so glad you are there with Coleman through this time of trial. We are there in spirit, too. Coleman is not alone, even when you are not standing at his side. He is always in God's hands and there is no place better for him.
We love you and wait hoping for a miracle, but praise God whatever He chooses to do.
    Dear Coleman,
The Lord is your Shepherd, you will never want,
He makes you lie down in green pastures, He leads you beside the still waters - He restores your soul. He guides you in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death - don't be afraid, He is with you. His rod and His staff will comfort you. He prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies, He annoint your head with oil, your cup is overflowing. Surely goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life, and you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
    We love you, Coleman.

  5. Father,

I lift Coleman into your loving and careful hands. Hold his body in your mighty arms, restore his liver and his lungs and all other functions. Cradle his body and his spirit. Bring him peace and comfort. Make him know that you are with him in that room and in that bed. Make him know that Eric and Belinda are present and holding him when they can and praying to when they can't. Make him know the depth of the love that surrounds him, from you, from his parents, from his brother, from Jordan, from his family and from his friends around this country and around the world.

Father, I lift Eric and Belinda into your hands. Be careful with their hearts. You have prepared them for this moment their entire lives and, whether they knew it at the time or not, you have provided them with the strength and knowledge of you to make it through this storm. I know that they trust fully in you and that they know their strength is not their own. Help them not to forget it in those quiet moments of sorrow. Pour your peace over them like a mighty river at every moment and give them endurance.

Father, in this time of unspeakable hurt, I praise you. I praise you for the heroes of the faith you have created in Eric and Belinda. I praise you that when others would focus on their own hurt and how to get themselves through this, these soldiers of Christ reach back to us to make sure we know they care. I praise you that they are seeking moments of ministry and ways to glorify you. I am so thankful that you have placed such strong examples of who we are to be in you right in front of me. Father, thank you for providing such an example to Emil, Coleman, Erica, and Haley. And thank you for providing the rest of us with such an example.

Your ways are better than our ways, Lord and you know our hearts. Whatever your will may be, do it in such a way to bring magnificent glory to yourself. Use this situation to bring witness of salvation through your son to the nation and the world.

Father, our hearts are breaking but we trust you. Be careful with their hearts as they hold Coleman and make this journey with you. I pray that you restore Coleman to his family and make this time just a fantastic testimony of your love that they can share in the future.

    In Christ's holy name.

  6. Coleman, hang in there and remember to never stop the fight. You are not alone because God is with you, by your side, holding your hand. Millions of his people all around the World are speaking you name this morning and praying for you to heal. For you to regain your strength, for your liver to be cleansed and most importantly for you to come home. For you to come home to your family, friends and beautiful fiance who love you more than words can express. I love you Coleman and miss you dearly.

  8. As I think about the hundreds of thousands who are sick, injured or dying today and the billions who've gone before ...I reflect on the fact that each had family and friends like us who suffer for them and for each others pain just as we do for Coleman and each other ... I can't help wondering if all that is terrible and wonderful in our lives is just God's way of teaching us a higher dimension of loving and caring by putting us through higher dimensions of heartbreak and joy.

My Grandson Coleman has brought joy beyond measure into my life, and this terrible sickness has brought a new dimension of pain ... but Eric, Belinda, and Emil's strength and love, coupled with the response of our family, friends and even strangers, has been a wonderful affirmation of the values Jesus taught and of God's love.

I thank God for Coleman, and for each of you.

  9. Dear Coleman, Eric, Belinda and all the Hinkefent Family,

Lean on the Lord, His grace will hold you up.

Please know that I and so many others are standing in the gap for Coleman. We pray healing and wholeness for Coleman. We pray strength during these times for his family. We pray for miracles that can only come from God, and that through this His glory be known to all.

James 5: 14-15a Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.

You are in our hearts and God is with you.
