7:50PM Homburg

This message was just received from Eric. It details some of the events of the day. Note that Homburg is 7 hours ahead of Tulsa, OK.

4 PM Homburg Germany - It appears after ongoing review of Coleman’s case, that his liver failure was NOT caused by Leukemia (though he clearly does have leukemia which has caused many problems on its own). No cause has become apparent at this time for the liver failure which he clearly had when he showed up in Germany. The cause is important because it might establish other treatment protocols.

Coleman specifically has VOD – Veno-Occlusive Disease – which is the small blood vessels of the liver being blocked or clotted off. VOD is rare and seen in persons who have had bone marrow transplants and radiation (as one receives in cancer therapy). The Activated Protein C was prescribed as a means to open these up – again it is a “late stage” pharmaceutical. Today Coleman began kidney dialysis – which was expected to happen. One other item of note, he has highly elevated Ferritin levels (iron) which they do not understand.

5 PM I returned to the hospital from the hotel (Belinda was already there). The doctors had concern about bleeding around the brain, so he was examined by CT scan – while he does have some edema, there is no bleeding. A document has been sent to the German courts to allow me to make life threatening procedural decisions on Coleman’s behalf. This is due to the doctor’s desire to do a liver biopsy through a vein – a risky procedure but the only option to get a glimpse of what may be causing Coleman’s liver to shut down. The document to allow me this authority takes a full business day so it will be day after tomorrow before we receive it due to the late hour of its submission. Again Coleman is at another “last option” juncture – but we are thankful for any hope and these doctors would not be doing it if they didn’t think there was a chance. It is clearly not how they work.

6 PM The post below this one, requesting immediate prayer was the result of Coleman’s doctor coming in and informing us that Coleman was not responding properly to the dialysis – his vitals necessitated the use of drugs to get his blood pressure and certain blood elements back in line that he clearly explained he could not keep giving beyond a certain level … “there is no sense” were the exact words and “it does not look good”. We went in and prayed and Belinda read him the many posts he has received on this site.

6:30 PM The doctor came in and his condition had improved – which the doctor was quick to point out was neither cause for celebration nor grief – but that his condition needs to be continually stabilized – not just in “brackets” of time. Regardless we give thanks for this small victory. We were asked to leave the room for about an hour while they did the “maintenance” on him and I am writing this from the waiting room.

7:50 PM Please continue to pray for Coleman – he is struggling hard. Pray for his body to stabilize long enough for the biopsy to occur and analysis of the liver tissue to result in meaningful information that will lead to better results.

Thank you all for praying without ceasing - though Coleman cannot respond being fully sedated and resting peacefully on the outside, we feel confident he hears our words and the prayers and posts that we read to him from this site. Don’t give up on Coleman – what he lacked in size he made up for in mean. Hang with him now.

  1. Our Gracious Father, We will no give up! We know you want us to come to you with our desires, and our desire is for healing. Lord, please let Coleman stabilize enough to do the liver biopsy, protect him during the procedure, and may the results be meaningful and useful and open new treatment options. We know Eric, Belinda and Coleman are all in Your hands now. Bring them comfort as so many of us together lift them to You. We will not give up hope. In Christ's name, Amen.

  4. I just want to thank you God for opening the doctors eyes to what may be the real cause of Colemans liver failing. I know Coleman is going to get through this! I pray you grant Coleman with the strength to stay strong and keep fighting so he can begin his healing procedures! Continue to comfort Belinda and Eric as they stand strong by Colemans side! And I pray that you let Coleman know how much he is missed and loved.

  5. This sounds very much like a toxin or poisoning. It would helpful to get info from his army buddies re: what he might have been exposed to in the days leading up to his illness. I noticed that some of his army buddies have posted. Do they have any ideas of what substances or toxins might be involved?

  7. Please let Coleman know that the kapple's and the whole office are praying for him. Just can't get you all out of our minds. I finally understand the meaning of praying without ceasing. We need our "master caster" to pull out of this.

  9. Belinda, Eric & Coleman,
I love you all so much! I am praying for you day and night, as are so many other people. God is answering prayers for Coleman with each day that passes. What we may see as a small window of hope, God can use as a giant opportunity for miracles. God's timing is perfect and we wish Coleman could have been healed the very first day, but all in His perfect time. We must all have faith that God will and is watching over Coleman. We must continue to frevently pray without ceasing. I pray that Coleman's body and vitals will stabilize. I pray that the papers will come through with unexpected speed. I pray that the doctors will have great wisdom & clarity. I pray the doctors will figure out all they need to know to treat Coleman properly and effectively. I pray that you will comfort and strengthen Belinda and Eric. I pray that God's healing hands will send a miraclous improvement to Coleman. I pray that Coleman will feel all the love, encouragement, prayer and good wishes being sent to him from everyone. God bless and keep you in His tender loving care.

  11. Psalm 70:

    God, deliver Coleman.
    Hurry to help him, Lord!

Let whoever or whatever seeks his life be disgraced and confounded; let whoever or wheatever wishes him harm be driven back and humiliated.

Let those who say, "Aha, aha!" retreat because of their shame.

Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; let those who love Your salvation continually say, "God is great!"

    Coleman is afflicated and needy;
    Hurry to him, God.
    You are his help and his deliverer;
    Lord, do not delay.

  12. This is from a precious woman at our church:

" Our hearts reach out to this family who so desperately seek comfort from God right now. We will be praying with you and with that family, over the miles. We know God hears the prayers of His children. We are asking God to send His Holy Spirit to the family, to work out His great plan in the life of each one. God has promised to give wisdom when we ASK for it. So we're asking God to give the doctors wisdom. We're asking for healing, if that is God's plan for His human son in Germany, and for comfort and strength to each of Coleman's family as they face this crisis.

    We pray with you.
    Nancy and Rod"

    She then added:
"Yes, you many post my words to their blog. They should know that they have friends everywhere, whom they have not yet met, who join them in prayer.

My heart aches for this family, but I know God is aware of every tear that falls and He will banish all pain soon."

    We love you all...

“O Lord, I beseech You, may Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant and the prayer of Your servants who delight to revere Your name, and make Your servant successful today and grant him compassion before this man” (NeH 1:11).

Most importantly, you are a precious treasure to your Heavenly Father. He loves you SO MUCH!!! He is truly fighting on your behalf. 18. Coleman stay strong and know that HE is there by your side every second. HE will never leave you or forsake you. I miss you so much coleman and wish i could be there to hold your hand and help mom read these thoughtful and oh so important words to you. I pray that the Lord our God will be glorified with every decision made today and that HIS children can witness a miracle like no other. I have spoken with many of Coleman and I's close friends over the past few days. We talked about the many amazing times we had together how we could watch a 1970 kung fu movie and laugh till we cried over pointless stuff and bad acting haha. we talked about how coleman and i would fight so hard with anything we could find to hurt each other (sticks, chairs, rocks, paintballs, ect.) but the second someone actualy got hurt we became each others doctor and helped nurse each other back to fighting health (then do it again lol). we talked about how coleman would never take crap from anyone and if the guy was to big for him to handle he would threatin to call his big bro if he didnt leave coleman alone. My brother is a survivor i know because i have seen him get knocked down before, it didnt matter if it was a crazy dirtbike wreck or skating accident or a hard check into the boards during one of our hockey games, he gets back up and baby bro is gonna get back up from this one to i am confident.

Dear Jesus we come before you today with a burden on our hearts. we pray that in this time when it is so hard to feel good about anything we pray that we find power and strength in you our God. You are all knowing and all powerful you are God alone. Jesus i ask of you to have mercy on my baby brother and heal his wounds and afflictions, Lord i ask for your courage for coleman that he may know that you and all of his huge support group are ROOTINGFORCOLEMAN. We will not fail coleman in this dark time we will rise up in prayer and find blessings and peace in sufering and pain. Thank you for alll that we have already recieved , in your name Jesus Amen.

Thank you once again to all who are supporting my family and my amazing brother who i know appreciates it more than we know. I love you all and am excited and ready for great news to come.

    I LOVE YOU COLEMAN

  19. Wow! The blog got me. I am not an emotional guy, but the song, comments, concern from others, and the unbelievable awesomeness of the Christ gift was overwhelming. It’s quite divine how a guy I don’t even know can share the gospel simply by being sick. I’m sure others have been touched as well. Thanks for sharing the opportunity to pray for him. mm

I always used to see the fight you had in your eyes. I believe that same fight is still there. My mom came into my room to wake me up this morning and said "Coleman is doing just a little bit better. Coleman is going to get through this. I feel it." I had my doubts because you weren't here to hold me like you always were. Now I can feel you all around me. I believe. So keep strong.

I pray that the Lord only blesses you with sweet dreams while you're resting. I pray those dreams are your motivation to keep fighting. Happiness must be in your state of mind to keep going so I pray that is what you receive. I love you little Coleman.

    Keep strong best buddy.

Belinda, Eric, we are praying that God gives you strength and peace that only He can bring.

Father, I pray for my buddy Coleman. Give him the strength he needs to continue trusting in you. Send your peace into his hospital room and minister to him in a special way. We ask that he be able to feel your arms around him, holding him up. We pray that he feels and knows just how much he is truly loved by all of us at home. Lord, give the doctors guidance, wisdom and insight as to how to treat Coleman. Lord we are leaning on you, trusting in you to work out all the details. We love you Lord, and know that Coleman loves you also. We commit our lives into your hands, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

I read each comment in amazement and honor that I am loved by the God that is touching so many people through you. Our Savior is working in you right now, at this moment. His Holy Spirit has filled you from head to toe. You are so incredibly strong in Him. I pray that you continue to be held tightly through all of this. I pray that your strength and faith are a witness to all of those around you of our Gods Grace and Power. Nothing is too great for our God. Coleman you have grown into an amazing man. A man that fights to honor his country, a man who stands firm in his beliefs, a man that has touched so many lives. Continue to fight! Battle with everything you have! Hear these words and stand strong in the name of your Heavenly Father. We all love you more than you know, and will NEVER shed a tear of doubt. May we all be filled with confidence and assurance that this enemy is now up against something far greater than any of us. Jesus is with Coleman, living inside of him, fighting with him. There can be no doubt what so ever in that. We continue to pray and long for the day when we can all embrace once again and thank our Glorious God for the miracle he is performing. Continue to fight Coleman, you are stronger than you have ever been!

  36. We have not ceased to pray for Coleman and for you, Eric & Sweet Belinda, since we first received word of Coleman's illness. It appears that when certain prayer warriors grow weary, there are others waiting in the ranks to take up the prayer baton and run with it, as is evidenced by the many comments posted in this place. Let your hearts find encouragement in this. Your updates have only served to stoke the fire to keep us continually before the Father.
We love you and continually hold you close in our hearts. May you continue to draw your strength from God's abiding presence. And I pray you will be wise enough not push your own bodies and minds to the extremes or beyond your own endurance. I pray God will grant you the gift of restful sleep in the midst of the storm. "Underneath are the everlasting arms" (from Deuteronomy).

Uplink has people all over the world praying for you too. We love you guys. May our Lord continue to wrap you in His strong and gentle hands so that you may know afresh His presence. Coleman, may the fingers that created the heavens touch you and bring total and complete healing and restoration to your body. We are learning anew what it means to "pray without ceasing."

  38. Coleman, me and my mom were just talking about old times when we played soccer and basketball together and when we went to the Kansas City tournament and it was me you andrew and matt in a hotel room. We pulled out pictures and they brought back a lot of memories. We laughed at the one of you on the elevator with all the girls in Kansas City. There was also one of you me emil and Jonathan bagwell all with our heads tilted to the side. Remember the time when me you and emil were at your house and we had just gotten a lot of snow and we decided we would pull the sled behind the four wheeler but we could'nt find a rope. We took all of your karate belts and tied them together and used them instead and we built that ramp in your field! Coleman, you have given all of us so many great memories to look back on and laugh about. I know that there are so many more memories to be made with you and I trust that God will guide the doctors and give them direction in what they need to do to bring you back to a full recovery. We love you and are continually praying for you!!

  42. keep on fighting the good fight of FAITH! here are some healing scriptures to read aloud:
I've heard people say "It's God's will" or "I'll just leave it up to God" when faced with a serious illness or tragedy. Don't fall into that trap. God wants us to pray to him for help. In Luke 18:1 Jesus told his disciples that they "should always pray and not give up." and then Jesus asked "...will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?" Pray to God from your heart for healing. Don't stop. Don't give up. God wants us to ask him for help. He loves us.

James 5:14-15 we are told: "Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15) And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven." and in James 5:16 we are asked to "confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." and then told that "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." In Mark 11:23-25 Jesus further instructs to forgive when we pray "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, `Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24) Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25) And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

in Matthew 17:19-20 when he said "I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, `Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

With God all things are possible, always remember that. Continue to read healing scriptures over him

Coleman and the family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers!

    God bless you!!

  44. Dearest Coleman and family,

I don't know you. I live in Michigan. I found your blog through Beth Moore's blog where Jes asked for prayer. Hope you don't mind having another concerned sister in the Lord praying for you, young man!

What a handsome man you are Coleman. I am asking the Lord to completely restore you and am thanking Him in advance for it.

I join all the other prayer warriors in asking God to give the doctors great wisdom in treating you. I am praying for the Lord's peace that passes all understanding for you, your mom and dad, your fiance and all those who love you so dearly.

I trust that you are at peace, hear your parents voices, and know in your spirit that people you will never even meet this side of heaven are praying around the clock for you. I pray for comfort and strength for you. You sound like a very brave and strong young man, Coleman. Lean upon God's strength when you are weary. Know that Christ will carry you through the things you can't do alone.

We serve a mighty and powerful God. We are all believing that you will be healed by the Great Physician. We are expecting a miracle with you and your family and thanking the Lord for all that He is and will do.

May God hold you all firmly in the palm of His hand!
    Kathy
Also, Parents: please be sure and check out (if you have not all ready) the information that Joy Arnold sent to you marked "Important". It does sound that many of the symptoms are the same. It can be caused by herbal teas and wheat. Definitely worth ruling it out at the very least.
